Abstract

The ideological rediscovery of Zapata and zapatismo from 1938 --not without complications has never been possible with Villa and Wiliam. But finally, 85 years after his most famous victories, and 78 years after his death, Villa has found his historian, Friedrich Katz, and his mausoleum in form of a great book. The purpose of this essay is to analyze the relevance of Katz's work to comprehend uillismo and the Mexican Revolution. The author argues that the work of Katz is not a biography, but a global and comprehensive study of a 'movement' villismo within the Mexican Revolution and in the context of North America.
