¿En qué medida la independencia judicial incide sobre la presencia de mujeres en altas cortes de justicia? América Latina en perspectiva comparada.

Contrariamente a lo que se esperaría, el descenso en la independencia judicial incide positivamente en la representación de mujeres en altas cortes. De acuerdo con la teoría que propongo, este fenómeno se explica porque ante deficiencias en los rendimientos del Poder Judicial, los actores políticos intentan, como estrategia, reducir los costos que de ahí se derivan para incrementar el número de juezas supremas o constitucionales.
Por lo tanto, en mercados laborales con distorsiones estructurales, como los de América Latina, la presencia de más juezas supremas o constitucionales no debe interpretarse necesariamente como un indicio de que los actores políticos están interesados en reducir las asimetrías en los espacios de toma de decisiones públicas.
